Angband mutation flatulence2/21/2023 If you find a commutation altar, you can switch your build later. So depth 8 at the earliest, but usually around depth 10-12, I try to settle on a build. I usually begin to enchant a weapon or armour or both by the time I start to encounter wraiths, and I don't have anything to handle them. Non-flying monsters won't follow you down a hole. The most common ones are: use a consumable, or go up one level and jump down a hole. If you have no potions of life, I would suggest resting till you have at least 70% hp. How much HP you should have before wandering depends on what consumables you have and your equipment. If you think it is unsafe to wander, rest in a quiet place. Don't quaff-identify potions unless you are close to full HP.Īlmost never use a potion of life to heal unless you are about to die. That of course doesn't mean you have to kill everything. Also, sometimes, non-blessed stuff can be useful as well. Detect magic doesn't show food, and missing food can be fatal. General comments: I usually explore the whole level till about Depth 23 or 24. Should I start pouring enchants on a mundane weapon if there doesn't seem to be any good weapons available or wait and try to survive? How not to be an idiot and misclick or not notice a mutated exploding wraith and burn to death after the huge explosion? When is it better to rest than use a potion to heal? I've been getting better at the game, usually dying at maybe d15-20 if I've found anything good, of course at times I die on d2 to drinking a potion of caustic gas in hopes of getting a potion of life after a fierce battle with a kobold. Even if I've drank a detect magic and know that there shouldn't be anything good left on the level. My problem currently is that I'm often finding myself trying to see each and every corner of every level and always trying to kill pretty much every monster unless I'm really concentrating on not doing it. So, I've been playing Brogue for a while now and of roguelikes I've mainly been playing angband and some variants.
